This morning we got an early start. My appointment was at 7:45, so everybody got up around 6:00. Surprisingly, we were all very coherent and efficient - even though we've been getting up in stages lately. Olivia is becoming more resigned to her car seat, and we've had fewer and fewer tears as she's strapped down like the precious cargo that she is.
Everyone at the hospital thought that she was precious. And everyone also commented on how well I looked. My incision is healing nicely, which is good to hear. The only thing that raised concern was that my blood pressure was extremely high. After many tests and re-tests, they decided to ... do more tests! It took several tries to get any blood (you'd think such high pressure would have it spurting out a la the Black Knight in Monty Python's Holy Grail!) and now we're waiting to hear results. Apparently I could have developed postpartum preeclampsia. We'll see.
After the doctor's office, we went home and that's where we stayed for the rest of the day; snug as three bugs in a rug. It was a snowy, cold day (imagine that!) and we were happy to be inside and take it easy. We watched a program on string theory that I recorded for Mimi back in November. We did some more tidying & laundry. We called Aunt Jenn and sang Happy Birthday to her. We got a beautiful arrangement of flowers from Paula and her family. Olivia read the latest issue of American Bungalow and agreed that she would like to live in a craftsman style house.
In the evening, we made a turkey casserole and Morgan joined us for dinner and the new episode of Supernatural. She helped cheer Olivia on as she 'crossed the pond' TWO times (on her play mat). She was practically zooming along! Way to go Olivia!
What could be a sweeter day than that?! What's that you say? A phone call from Daddy? Well, we got one of those too!!
