January 8, 2012

Compared to yesterday, today was idyllic. We got lots of rest, staying in our respective beds until almost noon and getting up only for feedings. Once we were finally up and about we decided to take a trip to Sam's Club. We stuffed Olivia into her purple fleece snowsuit and packed her into her car seat.

It snowed quite a bit last night and this morning so we got a chance to use the 'snow' setting in the new car. It handled very nicely. We had no troubles on our trek. There were surprisingly few people at Sam's Club, especially for a Sunday afternoon, so we got a good parking space. The car seat 'locked' onto the cart - which was so nice - and Olivia slept soundly. We made short work of our list which, apart from a treat for Adam, was mostly paper products. There was no wait to speak of in the check out line, and before we knew it, we were back out in the snow. We stopped in Bruegger's for a bite until Olivia's lip started to tremble & then we hopped home as quick as we could.

Once home, Olivia played in her swing for almost 45 minutes - she is so good at entertaining herself! Then she began an eating spree, first nursing almost every half hour and then nursing for more than an hour at a time. It seemed to be the only thing to soothe her, and since the lactation nurse said that I should feed her whenever she indicated (due to her tongue tie & the possibility she's not getting enough milk) we spent the evening tethered to each other.

Today Olivia wore one of our favorite outfits - a sweet pink suit that snaps up on a diagonal with pink bows. I didn't realize that I would become such a fan of the color pink. It was perfect for showing off her stunning blue sweater from cousin Jane. It looked so very sweet! How special to be able to dress our precious baby in clothes made by loving hands - I think it makes them that much warmer.

We had a very pleasant visit with the Wiser ladies this evening, and then a visit from Morgan. Olivia seemed to sleep best when being held (for the few moments she wasn't eating) so we took turns snuggling her. Snuggling Olivia is hardly a chore, though. If I could, I'd snuggle her all day long!
