February 1, 2012

Olivia and I had a very busy day today. We're starting to get into a routine, which is very nice for me. This meant we got up several times for feedings, but kept everything in the room very dark & quiet so that it was easy to go right back to sleep. We started to get ready for our adventures around 11am. Olivia had eaten and was very contented so I put her upstairs in her vibrating chair while I took a nice shower. As usual we were completely in sync - she was calm until I opened the shower curtain to get out and then she started crying. We got dressed - Olivia in polka dot pants, a pink elephant onesie and a purple cardigan from Jane and me in clean yoga clothes.

We went and collected the mail, which included some things I needed to call customer service about. So it was a good thing we had gotten an early start on our journey to yoga. I thought we would go get a snack beforehand, but it was right in the middle of the lunch rush hour so we changed our minds. We went right to Artisans' Courtyard and took advantage of the pre-class quiet to nurse. Soon we were joined by Alex & James. It was so much fun to share the class with a friend! James got to play with the other little ones and Olivia was very good. She spent most of the class observing beautiful Alex. After class, we went to the Take 5 Cafe for a sandwich and a piece of peanut butter pie to (belatedly) celebrate Alex's birthday.

Next on our agenda was a visit to the Brouillette's house. We were returning a pie plate (filled with an apple cobbler). Leanne has taken the initiative to organize the children's playgroup, baby showers and she also arranges for people to deliver meals to those who are ill and to new moms. Many times she's the one to make meals. She does all of this as a mother of three active children and while working part time. She is one special lady! Olivia & I wanted to thank her for all she does, and the least we could do was to return her pie plate with something tasty in it. We stayed and visited for a while. Olivia made friends with Allie, who finally let her mom hold this 'other' baby, and Cooper & Aiden were very appreciative. Aiden was especially sweet and said how "beautiful" and "cute" she was. They're such a nice family.

We left around supper time so that we could take care of our dogs. Olivia was also eager to get home. I think she was a little over-stimulated. Lots of new places & faces today. And the last two times she nursed were in unfamiliar places. So even though it was a little early, she ate again and snuggled in close for some skin-to-skin time with mom.

Morgan came over for dinner and Disney movies. We watched In Search of the Castaways and Brother Bear. Morgan gave Olivia a bottle, which she took with only moderate mess and fuss. It was a really nice way to end our day. Now we're both ready for bed. It was a long - but very pleasant! - day. Good night!
