I'm glad that Kari & I have kept so many of our toys including lots of cute little figurines. This pretty Cabbage Patch Kid ballerina was a gift from Aunty Kari and she has been sacrificed to Olivia's teeth. It's probably not intended for children 'under 3' but I am pretty sure I can keep her from swallowing it. (wink)
She's started this new 'fake' laughter. It's really very funny. I'm not sure where she learned it, but it is effective. I gather that I'll be saying, "Where did she learn that?!" a lot from this point forward.

Today I got a dress for Olivia to wear to Stacy's wedding. It is very sweet and I think it's the right tones. I also got a doo-dad to put on a headband. Now I just have to make a headband!
Tonight we played with the rabbit puppet. When he barks at Olivia she laughs uncontrollably!

I loved the dress that Olivia wore today. It's from my friend Robyn. It is a great example of how you should try all sorts of things. It looked nice on the hanger, but when I put it on Olivia I was smitten with it. So sweet! Thank you Robyn! Robyn sends her daughter Marina's clothes to us after she's outgrown them. Today I continued that tradition and started separating Olivia's clothes into "keep" and "send" boxes. My friend Jenny is having a baby girl in September and I am happy to share these pretty things. I'll save the ones that we really love or that have sentimental value (like today's dress) but pass most things along.

Olivia loves climbing on Daddy. He lets her manhandle him - she pulls on his ears, rearranges his face, and crawls all over his head. What a good sport!

Olivia has started to share her food with Adam & I. I pretend to nibble and then she takes it back. (I think Adam eats it!)

We spent the day with Morgan today. First we went to Old Navy where I picked out lots of new clothes. I'm tired of looking schlumpy. I seemed to only have clothes at either end of the spectrum - nice professional clothes & gardening grungies. So I decided it was time to get some clothes that were 'in between' - nice enough to feel good but not so nice that they can't get covered in sticky baby food. Then we went to Barnes & Noble and then home. Morgan brought lots of treats from her trip to Wisconsin including a very special doll wearing a bunad (a traditional Norwegian costume).

Later I cut up some sponges into fun shapes for the bath tub. I couldn't seem to find any sponge shapes for sale anywhere - only foam. Whatever happened to fun sponges?
When Daddy came home from his errands this evening he brought Olivia her own set of pink keys on a "Daddy's Girl" keychain. They're uncut forms. I know he's worried - he's the worrier - about her poking herself on my keys. So this solves the conundrum. Pink keys! She is
truly Daddy's girl!

This morning I had a snuggly EIGHT MONTH old join me in bed. Then we got dressed and had to wear a sweater! The mornings are getting a little chilly (all the better for cuddling!) and before you know it it will be fall in Fairbanks. Oh my how the time is flying.

We went with Daddy to get an MRI on his ankle. Olivia charmed all the patients in the waiting room and passed the time playing with her new keys. At lunch she sang some lovely songs to her spoon friend. She's standing up so well. She loves to use the dog kennels to navigate the living room. I can tell we've got a climber already! Such a big girl!

Olivia practiced her alligator 'wrastling' today - perfect for our new home in Louisiana? It really is a very cute alligator. It's from Aunty Kari. It's made by
PlanToys - a company that has become a favorite of mine. Not only are they a green company, but their toys are durable and fun! I also like that they are dyed as opposed to being painted; I don't have to worry about Olivia eating paint chips!

Speaking of eating, tonight Olivia fed herself cottage cheese. Daddy put some on the spoon but she was able to get the correct end of the spoon in her mouth & the food in her mouth...most of the time. Yay Olivia!
Tonight I finished drawing a poster for my friend Robyn's daughter Marina who just turned ONE. Being a mom has given me so many creative outlets. Thank you, Olivia, for inspiring me every day.
