September 9 - 14, 2012

Sunday, September 9th
It was another bad night of sleep last night. Poor baby. Not only are her teeth bothering her - she has six teeth now! - but she has a some painful looking diaper rash. Time to look closely at what she's been eating and to stop using the disposable diaper liners. (I think the liners hold the moisture too close to her skin.) Olivia keeps picking a book about Noah's Ark illustrated by Lucy Cousins. Since she likes the pictures so much I'm going to get her some Maisy books - also illustrated by Cousins.
Olivia practiced "puppy" some more this morning and used the kennels to practice standing & her plies. Eagle seemed to enjoy playing peek-a-boo with her!

Olivia has so much fun in the tub! Tonight she got to play with new foam letters & numbers. Daddy really wanted to spell OLIVIA in the water, but she kept grabbing the second I. Oh well. Olivia has almost as many tub toys as she has other toys! This bathroom has to be one of the most fun rooms in the house.

On a side note, I noticed that my hair is recovering from my post baby hair loss. So much of it is growing back in it looks like I have very short bangs!

Monday, September 10th
Today was a sad day. We put Circle down this morning. She was a very sweet dog & I hope that her last months with us were happy ones. We did not bring Olivia with us. I didn't think that was appropriate. Even though I know she wouldn't really understand, she didn't need to see Mommy & Daddy so tearful. Our friend Christina and her daughter, Becky, came over and played with Olivia instead.
Olivia learned that she could push open the gate from the living room, so Daddy brought home a new gate today. The baby-proofing continues!
Since Olivia has had nasty diaper rash I have been trying to let her 'air out' as much as possible. Although she had a diaper on, I didn't put pants on her today. However, it was chilly out so I put leg warmers on her. She looked pretty cute. While she napped I finally finished knitting the pair of leg warmers I started over a year ago. About time!

Tuesday, September 11th
This morning the Wiser ladies came over to play for a short while. They are such lovely company! Hopefully we can have another 'playdate' again soon.
After Olivia took her nap she was ready to play! I've given her a little calculator for her very own 'phone'. She can press the buttons, etc. I think she's taken a shine to it.
Then she spent some time chasing her pink ball. She looked so cute in her pink jumper and pink footed tights with the pink ball, I couldn't resist taking pictures.

Wednesday, September 12th
Olivia was quite the charmer today! First she charmed the ladies at the register in Fred Meyer, who thought she looked very fancy in her necklace. Then she charmed everyone at the farmers market. Anne of Anne's Greenhouse gave her a free carrot to munch on. So tasty! And it probably felt great on her gums, too! Next stop was Old Navy where she charmed an expectant couple, and where she chose some very cute clothes. She opted for an owl hooded sweatshirt rather than the lamb, and she picked out a Minnie Mouse t-shirt. I really liked this stripy hat, but I can see that we are going to have a battle over keeping hats on this winter! We got lots of cozy things that we agreed on - especially tights.
We got a package in the mail today with goodies from Aunty Kari, Mimi & Astri Tove. Such fun! Thank you!

Thursday, September 13th
Today Olivia wore a new sweater dress from Old Navy, with warm tights and a cute blue bow. She was in such a good mood today and that always puts me in a very good mood! After an impish morning, she went down for a nap with no milk beforehand. That was a first with me. I was able to get a nap too - bonus! Daddy had to work through lunch, so we brought him food and then we facetimed with Mimi while Olivia had some lunch. Olivia took a second nap and woke up still in a good mood! Talk about a great day!
We picked up Daddy from work and took him out to eat at the shiny diner in North Pole. It's the beginning of our long weekend!
Friday, September 14th
Today was a nice, relaxed day. We made trays and trays of baby food - broccoli, kale, winter squash, peaches. There's more to make but we have to wait until these trays are empty! Olivia & Daddy got to Skype with Nana and play and play and play. Olivia has started making growling 'monster' noises. I'm not sure where she learned this (again!) but it's pretty funny. If you ask her if she's a monster, she'll usually make the noises at you. Adam also said that Olivia waved today! That's something that we've been working on for a while. She hasn't waved at me yet...but maybe someday.
In the afternoon we helped Jessica, Jesse & Sarah move into their new house. Olivia wore her new owl hooded sweatshirt and looked particularly cute!
Now she's in bed after throwing up a little bit. I'm not sure if she was just overfull, or maybe has an upset tummy. Hopefully it will be a good night for her, and for all of us! She's just woken up for her first 'during the night' feeding (she still nurses every four hours). So it's time to go rescue her! Good night!
