July 29 - August 4, 2012

Sunday, July 29th
Olivia has been watching some of the London Olympics and I may be biased, but I think she really enjoyed watching the rowing! Maybe... (wink wink). Watching all those athletes inspired me to get out and take Olivia for a walk. A short walk, but it was still good to stretch the legs! Olivia fell asleep on our walk, leaning on her little baby doll. She is very taken with this baby, who has earned the name Ba. Ba has turned into a regular companion, which is good because this lets Mingo & Lapinette stay at home on crib duty.
Olivia had some crazy post-bath hair tonight! Still red as can be!

Monday, July 30th
Lots of 'talking', rolling, rocking & chewing on our pop beads! (video to come)

Tuesday, July 31st
Today I played her lots of music on the xylophone and after several minutes of careful observation she tried it herself. What a good learner!
Later she examined her happy apple. I think she's recognizing faces. She holds it up, looks for the face and gives him a bitey kiss. Such a sweetheart.

Wednesday, August 1st
Happy Birthday to Mimi! More new developments today! Olivia can now take toys out of her toy bins and she's learning how to high five! And at the end of the day I discovered that there was a top tooth poking through! It was hiding behind her upper lip and I hadn't noticed it - I wonder how long it's been there?! She's growing & developing at what seems like a record pace to me, but is probably the same as every other baby. Still, I'm one proud mama.

Thursday, August 2nd
Today Olivia had a picnic with Baby Ba & Elmo. Which one of them will get the grapes? Which one the doughnut?

In the afternoon we went up to the garden & harvested lots of veggies! Olivia wanted to eat the turnip fresh from the ground! That's how delicious everything looked.

Tonight I moved the adhesive animals from her bedroom to the tub – they stuck better there & Olivia finally noticed them! Success!

Friday, August 3rd
Tonight I worked the last shift at the Creamer's Field Booth for the opening night of the Tanana Valley Fair. This was only the second or third time that I haven't put Olivia to bed. She & Daddy handled it like champs! Olivia even held her bottle herself.

Saturday, August 4th

We're trying to get Olivia to drink a little bit of water, so we got bottles that she can hold. At breakfast she was too distracted by daddy's clowning to do anything serious, though. I think she'll eventually get the hang of it...maybe.

We went to the Fair as soon as it opened. It was a little chilly, so we all bundled up. As my friend Keith said, "Ah, an Alaska summer fair - complete with blanket and winter hat." We had a lot of fun - perusing the Extension Office table, having meat on a stick, visiting the bunnies - it was a good Fair!

We also had lots of fun playing with some finger puppets that Nana sent!
