January 11, 2012

Olivia and I had another wonderful day today. It started off with a relaxing morning of eating and sleeping. I think we're really getting into a routine - although I'm hesitant to call it routine until we've kept it up for a little bit longer. We got up and moving by 11:00, when we started to get ready for a short outing. Today we went with Jessica & Sarah Abel to a doctor's appointment. It was a good trial run for me at negotiating the car seat through winding corridors and tiny elevators - and we managed just fine!

Following the appointment, Olivia & I dashed through the Wendy's drive-through and headed home. Although we're having lots of success, I'm still keeping our outings fairly short and sweet. By the time we got home, Olivia was ready to eat! I wolfed down my junior bacon cheeseburger and then attended to the darling baby. After lunch we talked to another lactation consultant - this one was from Bassett Army Community Hospital while the previous one was from a community health center - and she also agreed with the decision to clip Olivia's tongue tie. She offered her support in whatever way we needed it, which was very nice. I'm so impressed with the quality of health care & support services that we have both received so far. What a blessing.

After that we had a wonderful time chatting with Uncle Kyle & Aunty Jeri & caught them up on all Olivia's adventures - while hearing about their own. Both Olivia & I are still keeping Uncle Kyle close in our prayers (and Aunty Jeri, too!) since his fall from a ladder which broke his pelvis in three places! How scary! He sounded like his usual, cheerful self on the phone - which was very nice. I'm so glad he's alright.

Today we also got exciting news that Natalie is coming for a visit in February! Lucky us! Although we're getting closer and closer to Adam's return, it's such a treat to have something to look forward to in February! Olivia can't wait to meet Natalie.

Olivia slept for most of the afternoon and evening and was incredibly snuggly. Today she has decided that she likes being close to my face. We spent a lot of time cheek-to-cheek. It was delightful. I didn't want to move.

Morgan came over for a movie & ice cream tonight and she got to watch Olivia sleep & see all the funny expressions she makes as she dreams. I wonder what she dreams about. After Morgan left, Olivia nestled into my neck and slept peacefully. I was loathe to lay her down and get myself ready for bed because it was so pleasant. But now she is cuddled up with her puppy blanket and I'm ready to hit the hay myself. Who knows what adventures we'll get up to tomorrow!?
