Sorry this post is a little later than usual, we had complications with the internet last night.
Today we were very busy. This morning we talked to the lactation consultant about feeding and Olivia's tongue tie. The conclusion was that we're going to ask our (health care) provider to have her frenulum snipped. There are so many benefits, not to mention that tongue movement is necessary for good palette development, dental hygiene, speech, etc. So hopefully we have success with that at our next appointment - Monday. In the meantime, we're working on new/modified feeding techniques to make things easier for Olivia. I think the things we tried worked well.
Olivia had an eye for toys today. She spent much of time in the swing looking at her little pink elephant and later on she examined the elephants in her pack 'n play. Her binocular vision is really developing well! She is also learning to reach for objects in her field of vision. How cool!
After our morning swing, we had a guest. Zendy came over for a quick visit and to meet Miss Olivia. We also had company later in the day, Tiffany Dallman stopped by to deliver a blanket from Door of Hope Church - a community partner/support for our squadron during this deployment. That was very nice!
Mimi & Olivia tried on several outfits today, and practiced rolling over. Olivia apparently didn't realize lessons in rolling were over though, because when Mimi tried to pick her up she kept doing a sort of wild baby dance. She is such a funny baby.
We stuffed her in her fleecy purple hooded jumper and went on an outing to Michael's. We were looking for flowers to stick on the headbands I have been knitting in the night. They're easy & quick to make, which is nice because my fingers are still fairly numb. Instead what we found was a whole display of very cute, already assembled hair bows. How could we resist?! So we picked out a variety and that way we can interchange ribbons on the headbands - or use them later when her hair grows a bit. I think she looks pretty cute.
Our next adventure was eating in a restaurant! Mimi & I were very hungry and although we debated getting fast food, we decided to go the healthier route and sit down to eat. We went to Brewster's and shared a bacon cheeseburger. Okay, maybe not the 'healthiest', but we both needed a little protein to fortify us. Plus it was delicious. Olivia snoozed in her car seat.
When we got home, we did some chores and then worked on projects. Mimi helped finish a hat I had started and did some mending while Olivia & I worked on something fun for Daddy. Then we watched National Treasure and called it an (relatively) early night. All of us were in bed by 1:30. Amazing!
